PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN

London 1977 - 1980

The constant approach of an hermit "I liked and still am very interested by the paintings of Chaim Soutine; for the violence of the colours (Prussian blue, red carmine, deep black,…)
The painter was painting by personnel necessity; whatever the difficulties he kept at it as it was his cross to bear. Being very poor, he often painted some victuals on the canvas".

Extract of an interview with Isabella Pitisci,Feb 1998
